Chocolate Stripes is, aside from being a stunningly beautiful tomato, one of the most reliable performers for both production and flavor. These striking fruits have a flavor profile like the black tomatoes — earthy and almost smoky — combined with a sweetness that is hard to match.
These are robust plants, easily reaching at least 8ft tall in, my garden. 54-inch cages have never been enough to support them, particularly as they tend to be heavy producers, and I am considering new methods for next year… perhaps a galvanized steel cage.
